Berkeley County School District is excited to recognize the graduating seniors listed below who are recipients of the Teaching Fellows scholarship.

The Teaching Fellows Program recruits the best of the best and prepares these future teachers to positively impact education in South Carolina. Teaching Fellows have agreed to teach in a South Carolina public school for one year for every year they have accepted the fellowship funds.

The mission of the South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program is to recruit talented high school seniors into the teaching profession and to help them develop leadership qualities. Each year, the program provides fellowships to up to 200 high school seniors who have exhibited high academic achievement, a history of service to their school and community, and a desire to teach in South Carolina – or serve in another educationally-related professional capacity as defined by the program, such as a media specialist, occupational therapist, school counselor, school psychologist, school social worker, speech pathologist, etc.

Fellows receive up to $6,000 in yearly scholarships for four years, including $300 a year for summer enrichment.

This year, Berkeley County School District had 12 students, plus one who was named an alternate, who were accepted into the program to pursue the education track after high school. A total of 11 plan to pursue a degree in education.
